Dwayne Polee Update

Rumors of Polee committing to UNLV this week were overblown. He told the Las Vegas Sun last night that he's about two weeks away from committing, and his final schools are Oregon, UNLV, UGA and New Mexico. The four-star, 6'7" highlight reel has officially visited Athens already. (Ht - CedarDawg)

Sites differ on his offer list pre- and post-Jeff Lebo's termination at Auburn, but it looks like he had offers from UGA, Auburn, UAB and a variety of other mid-majors. Over the weekend, we listed 5 Reasons Why Donte Williams is a good commit for Mark Fox.

Bourbon to Check Out

A few months ago, I tried a small batch bourbon called "Old Pogue Master's Select." A friend of the blog (and of the distillers) brought a bottle to a tailgate last season for Dawgnoxious and I to try. We were blown away. (Image: GotBourbon.com)

As BulldoginExile told me after he tried it, the flavors of honey and butter are so unexpected as to really impress. I'm not typically a guy that drinks his bourbon neat, but Pogue was so smooth that it worked incredibly well for our initial tasting(s).

I bring it up now because I saw that the package store in Athens next door to Five and Ten restaurant now carries it in stock. So, I no longer have to order online or have friends bring me a bottle when they are in the Midwest.

Just something to consider as you ponder life's meaning or the impact of the 3-4 on UGA's defense as we wait for football season to return.

Note: This is not a paid endorsement. And yes, I'm still a Maker's Mark fan.

Boston Globe Slaps Michael Adams

Bob Ryan of ESPN's The Sports Reporters and the Boston Globe comments on Michael Adams' candidacy for president of the NCAA, and he throws Adams a beating. It's a must read for Georgia alumni. (Ht - TheDawgfather on dawgrun.com)

Basketball Recruiting: Sherrard Brantley

Sherrard Brantley is a 6'2" 170 lb freshman shooting guard at Northwest Florida Community College. The former Dublin, GA native is holding offers from Georgia, LSU and a variety of mid-majors. I'm pretty sure the video above is from his senior year in Dublin. According to the TheBlueJayCafe.com (Creighton site), Brantley is at LSU this weekend, UGA next weekend and Creighton the following weekend.

According to TigerBait.com this is why UGA and LSU are interested in the kid
Brantley, who helped Dublin (Ga.) to the Class 2A state championship as a senior, enrolled at Northwest Florida last fall after failing to qualify academically. He would have three years of eligibility remaining with whatever Division I school he signs with.

Brantley, who has played in all of his team's 31 games, has shot 42.4 percent from two-point range and 78 percent from the free throw line.

But the true eye-opener with Brantley is his presence from the perimeter with his 43-percent shooting from the 3-point land with 105 makes on 246 attempts. (Emphasis added)
If Trey Thompkins comes back next season and Gerald Robinson, Jr. is the combo guard he's billed to be, Georgia will take a nice healthy step forward. The type of season where you make the NCAAs as a low at-large seed.

However, if Georgia adds a legitimate starter at the Shooting Guard or Small Forward position, it has the potential to take a huge leap forward. The candidate to give us some big time minutes at Small Forward is Dwayne Polee out of Los Angeles. If Travis Leslie improves his handle, he could move to the two guard spot with Gerald Robinson taking over at point guard.

But even in that scenario, Georgia still will need a bomber to replace Ricky McPhee and bust open the suffocating zones that Trey Thompkins will face every week. A kid that can hit 40% from three point land at the two guard spot is exactly what the doctor ordered.

Sign them both, and you've really got something potentially. That would give us a primary rotation of:
    PG - Robinson / Ware
    SG - Brantley / Robinson / Leslie
    SF - Leslie / Polee / Ebuka
    PF - Thompkins / Barnes / Lalanne
    C - Price / Thompkins / Barnes
By the way, Mark Fox has an exceptional story to tell JUCO recruits. Fox played JUCO ball, and graduated from Garden City Community College before getting his bachelor's degree. Assistant Coach Kwanza Johnson also graduated from junior college before playing for Tulsa and going on to get a Law Degree. They respect the JUCO game, and their story resonates with JUCO players.

It's also tougher for the admissions committee to give Fox a tough time about JUCOs when Georgia is paying a JUCO grad over a $1 million to teach on campus.

Basketball Recruiting: Donte Williams

Per UGASports.com and DawgPost.com, Donte Williams (2010 class) is on his official visit to Athens this weekend. He's a 6'9"+ long, rangy kid with a raw offensive game, and good defensive quickness/instincts. He plays at Miller Grove High School (DeKalb County) with 2011 Top 150 recruit Henry Brooks and 2012 alpha male recruit Tony Parker.

His other offers include Auburn and several mid-major programs. Georgia is out in front on Williams per the sites above. Here's why we should sign him:
    1. We're down to 8 scholarship players right now. Nine including signee Cady Lalanne (PF).

    2. We have the scholarship flexibility to take a project. We have 8 open scholarships (including Lalanne) to give over the next two seasons and possibly nine if Travis leaves. We have never in our history signed 9 legit high-major recruits in a two year period. It's not like the next Michael Jordan was going to use this scholarship.

    3. Can he really be worse than Drazen? Therefore, signing him won't send us backwards.

    4. He's at an elite HS program with multiple quality teammates in one of the better basketball counties within a 200 mile radius. We need a pipeline in that area.

    5. Fox put several unknown recruits into the NBA. He's got an eye for this exact type of scenario. This isn't Dennis Felton with zero track record in this area bumbling into signing Troy Brewer...who's other offer was from a Baltimore Church League. This guy has a good track record with unknown signees.
We lose Thompkins, Barnes and Price in the next two seasons. We need some big men on campus.

One last thought on tailgating rules

I read hundreds of blog comments, editorials, articles and message board posts about the new tailgate rules over the past several weeks. Here's my only remaining question.

There were 70 tons of garbage left on North Campus after a single game last year. In reading all of those articles and comments, how is it possible that there wasn't a single post anywhere from a person saying, "You know what. I wish I had picked up my trash."

How can a group of fans make such a mess and that results in so much that they find important and fun being taken from them and not have a single one express any regret over their own actions or accept any responsibility for the outcome? That just blows me away. But I guess that explains the problem.

Customising Vehicles and Choosing Car Rims that Suit your Car

Customising vehicles and choosing car rims is one of the latest trends among car owners. Many car owners are willing to spend a lot of money to make their cars stand out from the crowd, both in terms of appearance and performance. One of the first things that car owners do when they customize their cars is change the car rims. However, with so many different types of car rims available nowadays, it is rather difficult to know which ones to buy. When choosing car rims, it is important that you do the necessary research to find out which car rims are most suitable for your car.

Car rims refer to the metal plates that are attached to the middle of the wheels. They differ in sizes and styles as well as prices. Apparently, there are questions that will surely bug your mind when you decide to purchase car rims. Firstly, you will be asking yourself, “Which car rims are best for my car?” It is very essential to consider this question first before you dish out money to get custom rims. Here are some tips to choose the right rims for your car.

If you are strictly after the appearance of your car, then you may choose custom car rims that will make your car look more attractive. This truly depends on your personal preference. However, you can’t just buy any set of car rims that you like, as there are certain rims that are just not suitable for your car type. For one, never buy steel rims that are made for racing cars as they will slow down the speed of your auto. When choosing car rims for your car, you must also see to it that the rims you plan to buy possess a maximum load rating that is compatible with your automobile. Also, the rims must conform to the bolt patterns of your car, and you must make sure that you purchase the correct offset size to avoid problems with steering and handling of your vehicle.

Meanwhile, if you are the type of person who drives your car almost every day, the best option for you is a set of alloy rims that facilitate cool air flow above your car’s brake system; this will prevent the car from overheating. Alloy aluminum rims weigh lighter than chrome and steel rims, and they allow you to perk up your gas mileage slowly. When customizing your wheels, it is better to use rims that are one to two inches bigger than the stock factory wheels. This will create a more sporty appearance for your car.

Another question that you should ask when buying car rims is, “Where can I buy them?” Well, the best place to shop for car rims is online. Through the internet, you can find numerous online stores that will provide you with pictures of a wide array of rims with their corresponding prices. Shopping for car rims online is great because it gives you a wide variety of choices, and you can comparison shop to get the best deals.

On the other hand, you can also go to a local car accessory store. Although this will take more time, it allows you to see, touch, and feel the rims before you purchase them. Also, there will be a sales agent at the store who can answer your inquiries and other concerns. A sales agent can give you good suggestions when you are choosing car rims for your car. Buying at a local store will also allow you to inspect the rims before you buy them.

GGP Graphite with Rims

I searched, and i found a post very similar to this but it had no results in it. Nowhere on this forum could i find a GGP is300 with black rims that weren't painted stock one's.

I'm thinking of getting new rims, for a few reasons, one being it be nice to have a winter/Daily Dickinaround and a racing set. But I think my car's color is one of the hardest colors to find rims for. Its not black and it's not white, and its not a bright color which makes it sorta hard to find something complementary.

Really appreciate any help and hope you guys enjoy repin your sexy GGP is300's!!!

P.S. just show me any graphite is300, im dead stuck on visual mods, and i think only seeing cars of a similar color will help. Also if anyone can provide me with a specific rim idea that would be great, im trying to sorta theme my car graphite and red, might be kinda cool to have it in the rims just as a small part.
